Chapter 12. Great Memorial Service

Section 1. About the Great Memorial Service

The Great Memorial Service (taechae) is observed to forever honor the memory of the Founding Master and all the successive forefathers of the Order by regularly offering a joint memorial service. It is performed twice a year to cherish and to repay the fundamental beneficence. At the June First Great Memorial Service, observed on the first day of June, and at the Thanksgiving Great Memorial Service, observed on the first day of December, the spirits of the Founding Master and all the successive forefathers are collectively memorialized at the Hall of Eternal Commemoration. Through these services, it is hoped that all adherents shall unite in spirit, offer devotion, and adopt a dignified manner, so that the burning of incense for the dharma lineage will be continued throughout limitless years.
