Guide to Conduct and Ceremony
Part 1. General Propriety
Chapter 10. Invitations
Section 1. About Invitations
As the life of society develops, there become many situations in which one must give and receive invitations. A person who gives or receives an invitation should maintain courtesy according to the location and situation. If the guest may receive an unpleasant feeling in the invitation, it would be better not to give the invitation at all; and if the person receiving the invitation is impolite, the host’s kindness will not be reciprocated. Thus, both must take care to maintain courtesy and sincerity.
