Section 5. Formalities Concerning a Dharma Discourse

1. Anyone with the dharma stage of Right Master [the status of dharma strong and Māra defeated] or above is called a dharma master. The act of their giving a sermon of dharma shall be referred to as giving a dharma discourse and the content of their sermons, a dharma discourse.
2. When a dharma master is to give a dharma discourse, a lecture platform shall be prepared in advance. The audience shall be assembled at the place where the dharma discourse is to be held. The host, after preliminary procedures, shall approach the dharma master and request the dharma discourse to begin.
3. When the dharma master ascends the lecture platform, the audience shall all bow with both palms joined together and listen to his dharma discourse. When the master finishes, the audience shall repeat the bow in the same manner.
