Section 2. Ceremony of the Forging of Relationships by the Grace of the Dharma

1. Forging of Relationships by the Grace of the Dharma shall be conducted in the following order:
1) Opening
2) Entering Samadhi
3) Song of the Order (Hymn 2)
4) Mental affirmation (Ceremonial Text 50)
5) Reporting of the person's accomplishments in life
6) Offering up a donation to the Buddha
7) Statement of purpose (Ceremonial Text 49)
8) Exchange of a letter of Forging of Relationships by the Grace of the Dharma (Ceremonial Text 51)
9) Prostration to the Parents-in-Grace (2 times)
10) Dharma discourse
11) Congratulatory and valedictory speech
12) Song of Forging Relationships by the Grace of the Dharma (Hymn 49),
13) Closing.
2. A Statement of Purpose shall be read to the Buddha by the officiator for the ceremony. When the reading is over, the pledger shall bow before the Dharmakaya Buddha four times. Then, the letter of pledge shall be read once by the officiator who is facing the pledgers and shall be exchanged between the two parties. After the dharma discourse, the pledgers shall bow to the dharma master.
3. The dharma discourse and the congratulatory and valedictory speech for the ceremony shall be made as befits the occasion.
