Part 1. General Propriety

Chapter 18. Honor and Trust

Section 1. About Honor and Trust

A sense of honor is meant to awaken within one's hearts a voluntary sense of shame in response to being in a situation where there has been breach of propriety; and a sense of honor is meant to maintain one's integrity. Trust means one doesn’t lose confidence and righteousness. Honor and trust are directly the foundation of true human courtesy. If one act out of desire without a sense of honor or one changes one's attitudes at random without a sense of trust, how can one, as a human beings, behave properly? Therefore, if one is to act with true courtesy, one needs necessarily to keep honor and trust.
