Part 1. General Propriety

Chapter 9. Visiting and Receiving Guests

Section 1. About Visiting and Receiving Guests

There is a specific courtesy for visiting and there is a specific courtesy for receiving guests. When the knowledge and living standard of the people involved are on an equal level, the courtesy should be consistent, according to common sense in social interaction; but when the levels are not equal and the knowledge of the old and new generations is not the same, courtesy will function differently according to circumstances, life‐style, customs or housing. People adopt courtesy either well or poorly; people can blend well or poorly. Therefore, people who observe proprieties must pay attention to this and be heedful not to act rudely to each other.
