Section 2. Grade Advancement Ceremony

1. The grade advancement ceremony shall be conducted in the following order under the presence of representatives in various fields of the Order and general attendance from inside and outside of the Order:
1) Opening
2) Entering Samadhi
3) Song of the Order (Hymn 2)
4) Mental affirmation (Ceremonial Text 52)
5) Reporting of the person's accomplishments in life
6) Explanation of the articles for advancement of dharma status (The Principal Book of Won-Buddhism)
7) Conferring the certificate of dharma status and a badge of the dharma stage
8) Dharma discourse
9) Prostration to the Buddha of advancer
10) Congratulatory address of representatives of the Order and guests
11) Valedictory address
12) Song of Advancement Grade Ceremony (Hymn 50)
13) Shouting “hooray,” three times
14) Closing.
2. If the ceremony is for advancement to the status of Tathagata, the passage “so that finally may reach Buddhahood with great enlightenment,” shall be replaced with the passage “so that may the state of the great enlightenment be endless” in the mental affirmation verse (Ceremonial Text 52).
3. The advanced believer’s birth, upbringing, education, career experience, entry into the Order, virtuous work, chronological record of dharma stage advancement, and the believer’s guide of entry into the Order and great awakening shall be reported in detail in the reporting of the person's accomplishments in life of the promoted.
4. The Prime Dharma Master shall make the presentation of the dharma status certificate and the dharma stage badge and deliver a dharma discourse. When the discourse is over, the advanced believer shall bow twice to the dharma master.
