“Subhuti, what do you think? Has the Tathāgata attained anuttarasamyaksaṃbodhi? Has the Tathāgata ever taught any dharma?” Subhuti replied, “As I understand the meaning of what the Buddha has taught, there is no fixed dharma called anuttarasamyaksaṃbodhi and there also are no fixed dharmas that the Tathāgata has taught. Why is this? This is because the dharma that the Tathāgata has taught is entirely ungraspable and ineffable; it is neither dharma nor not-dharma. What is the reason for this? All the sages and saints (Skt. āryapudgala) are distinguished by this uncompounded dharma.
