The Scripture of the Founding Master

Chapter Thirteen: On the Order

10

The Founding Master said, “We should not become ‘demons of life-blood.’ People are called ‘demons of life-blood’ if, abusing their position and power, or through cunning schemes, they cheat those who are inferior out of the assets they have accumulated through their own sweat and blood. Or, they improperly seek food and clothing from their friends and relatives and unfairly rely on them in order to live comfortably. Therefore, we, too must always reflect on our lives to see how much benefit we have offered others each day, and whether we have earned our clothing and food for that day. If we have made such efforts, we may rest comfortably, but if a person has made no such efforts, but seeks food and clothing or a comfortable life for himself on the pretense of serving the public, then that person would be accumulating enormous debts for an eternity and won’t be able to avoid becoming a ‘demon of life-blood.’ You must be truly awakened to this fact.”
