The Scripture of the Founding Master
Chapter Twelve: Exemplary Acts
32
When the Founding Master’s second son, Kwangnyŏng, fell ill, he made sure that his family members nursed him. When his son met with an early death, the Founding Master said, “We can only do our best as human beings; what is beyond our human ability to control is fate.” Afterwards, whether conducting official business or giving dharma sermons, he carried himself exactly as he always had.
