A disciple asked, “Because I still have not resolved this doubt about birth and death, my life feels like a mayfly’s and everything in this world seems futile. What shall I do?” The Founding Master answered, “In ancient writings it says, ‘Ordinarily, looking from the perspective of change, even heaven and earth do not stay the same for a single moment; looking from the perspective of the unchanging, all things and I are unending.’ Inquire often into the meaning of this passage.”
