The Scripture of the Founding Master
Chapter Eight: Buddhahood
1
The Founding Master said, “There may be many tall and low mountains in this world, but only the mountains that are the tallest, deepest, and densest with trees sustain the lives of numerous animals. Large and small streams flow everywhere, but only the deepest and widest sea sustains the lives of infinite numbers of fish. In the same way, many people might claim to guide the world, but only the person with the greatest merit and most wide-ranging loving-kindness and compassion will be able to sustain the bodies and minds of numerous sentient beings and help them all to live in peace and happiness.”
