When the Founding Master received mail, he always read it himself and sent his reply right away. Afterwards, he would carefully put away letters that he decided to save and the rest he would collect and burn at a clean spot. He said, “A letter contains the sincerity of the sender, so it is not proper decorum to handle it carelessly.”
