THE DHARMA DISCOURSES OF CARDINAL MASTER CHŎNGSAN(CHŎNGSAN CHONGSA PŎBŎ)

Part Two: Dharma Discourses

Chapter Fourteen: Birth and Death

31

31. The Master said, “If people sincerely make the commitment to meet each other in their next life, it will often materialize as they have wished. For, if a person’s spirit departs at death with no selfish motives after creating close relationships with many people without settling on any specific future affinities, one’s spirit may be reborn to any people according to appropriate affinities and timing, since they will all be kindly inclined toward that person. However, if one specifies a particular affinity by following one’s attachments, and the right opportunity does not present itself, one may be reborn into a baleful destiny in the vicinity of the person to whom you are attached.”
