40. A visitor asked, “Is your religion atheistic or theistic?” The Master replied, “Although we do not accept a personal deity that exists separately elsewhere, we recognize the numinous Truth that is ubiquitous throughout the universe. Hence, what we advocate is training the mind, utilizing the Truth of the universe, and gaining access to its awesome power.” The visitor asked again, “Is your religion idealism or materialism?” The Master replied, “We view mentality and materiality as a single suchness. The original essence of all things in the universe is the identical one essence, in which materiality and mentality are nondual. In operating them, however, mentality is essence and materiality is function.”
