39. The Master said, “Sages do not cling to minor benefits in the present, but will even incur harm in order to gain benefits that are eternal, infinite, and true. Ordinary people, while seeking minor benefits, commit transgressions and thus instead incur harm. True benefits can only be gained when they are based on justice and in accord with a great principle.”
